How to Unblock Blocked Numbers on Android
Blocking phone numbers is a useful way to avoid unwanted calls and messages. However, if you accidentally blocked a number or need to reconnect, unblocking it is quite simple. In this guide, we'll show you how to do it on Android devices.
Step 1: Open the Phone App
Start by opening the default Phone app on your Android device. You can usually find it on the home screen or in the app drawer.
Step 2: Go to Settings
Tap the three-dot icon (⋮) in the upper right corner of the screen to access the menu. From there, choose "Settings" or "Call Settings", depending on your phone model.
Step 3: Find the Blocked Numbers Section
In the settings menu, look for the section labeled "Blocked Numbers" or "Blacklist". On some devices, it may be found under "Privacy" or "Call and Message Filtering".
Step 4: Unblock the Number
In the list of blocked numbers, locate the number you want to unblock. Tap on it and select the "Unblock" option. The number will then be removed from the block list, and you’ll be able to receive calls and messages from this contact again.
Unblocking a Number via the Messages App
If you blocked a number through the Messages app, follow these steps:
- Open the Messages app.
- Tap the three-dot icon (⋮) in the top right corner and select "Blocked Contacts".
- Find the number you wish to unblock and tap on it.
- Select "Unblock" to remove the restriction.
Unblocking via Contacts
If the number is saved in your contacts, you can unblock it through the Contacts app:
- Open the Contacts app.
- Find and select the contact you want to unblock.
- Tap the three-dot icon and choose "Unblock Contact".
What to Do If the Number Doesn't Appear in the Block List
In some cases, the blocked number may not appear in your default block list. This can happen if a third-party call blocking app (like Truecaller or Call Blocker) was used. Open that app and check if the number is blocked there.
