How to Transfer Contacts from Android to iPhone

Switching from Android to iPhone can present some challenges, especially when it comes to transferring contacts. In this article, we’ll explore several easy methods to transfer your contacts seamlessly to your new device.

1. Using Your Google Account to Transfer Contacts

The easiest way is to use your Google account, especially if it’s already set up on your Android device. Here’s how:

  1. On your Android device, open Settings, go to Accounts, and select Google.
  2. Make sure that contact syncing is enabled.
  3. On your iPhone, open Settings, go to Contacts, and then select Accounts.
  4. Add your Google account and enable contact syncing.

In a few minutes, all your Google contacts will appear on your iPhone.

2. Using the “Move to iOS” App

Apple developed a special app to simplify the data transfer process from Android to iPhone, including contacts. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Download the “Move to iOS” app on your Android device.
  2. During the initial setup on your iPhone, select Move Data from Android.
  3. Open the app on Android and follow the instructions to connect both devices via a unique code.
  4. Select the data you want to transfer—choose “Contacts” in this case.

This app also transfers other data, including your calendar, messages, and photos.

3. Transferring via a VCF File

If you prefer a manual method, you can export your contacts to a VCF file and import it on your iPhone:

  1. On your Android device, open the Contacts app.
  2. Go to settings and select Export contacts to a VCF file.
  3. Send this file to yourself via email or save it in cloud storage.
  4. Open the VCF file on your iPhone and import your contacts.

4. Using a SIM Card

Another option is to save contacts to a SIM card and insert it into your iPhone:

  1. On Android, open Contacts and select the option to Export to SIM card.
  2. Insert the SIM card into your iPhone.
  3. On iPhone, go to Settings, select Contacts, and choose Import SIM Contacts.

This method works if your SIM card can store all of your contacts (usually up to 250 contacts).
