Battery Icon Missing on Windows Laptop: How to Restore It to the Taskbar

Sometimes, the battery icon may disappear from the Windows taskbar, making it difficult to monitor your device's battery level. This issue can be resolved using several methods. Below are the main steps to help you bring back the battery icon.

Check Taskbar Settings

  1. Right-click on the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
  2. Go to the Notification area section and click Select which icons appear on the taskbar.
  3. Find Power and make sure the toggle next to it is switched on.

If the battery icon is still missing, proceed to the next steps.

Check System Settings

  1. Press Win + I to open Windows Settings.
  2. Navigate to System > Notifications & actions.
  3. In the Quick actions section, ensure the battery icon is enabled.

Restart Windows Explorer

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
  2. In the Processes tab, locate Windows Explorer.
  3. Select it and click Restart.

This method often helps restore missing icons on the taskbar.

Check Battery Driver

  1. Open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting Device Manager.
  2. In the Batteries section, locate Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.
  3. Right-click each driver and choose Update driver. Alternatively, uninstall the drivers and restart your laptop — the drivers will reinstall automatically upon reboot.
