How to Adjust Sound for Individual Applications in Windows

Sometimes, it's useful to control the volume for each application separately. In Windows 10 and 11, there is a built-in feature that lets you do just that, allowing you to fine-tune the sound for different programs. For example, you can lower the volume of a music player without affecting the sound of video calls or games. Let’s take a look at how to do it.

Step 1: Open Sound Settings

First, right-click the sound icon in the system tray (at the bottom right of your screen) and select “Open Sound settings.”

Step 2: Go to App Volume Settings

In the “Advanced sound options” section, you will find a link called “App volume and device preferences.” Click on it to view a list of all the running programs that are using sound.

Step 3: Adjust Sound for Each Application

Now, in the list, you can adjust the volume for each application separately. Simply move the slider next to the app to set its volume. You can also choose different audio output devices for each application, offering even more flexibility.

Step 4: Finish

Once you've set the desired volume levels, just close the settings, and the changes will be saved automatically.

Now you know how to adjust sound for individual applications in Windows, giving you more control over your sound preferences for each program.
