How to Change or Remove Your Avatar in Windows 10

Your avatar in Windows 10 is the image displayed on the login screen and in the Start menu. It adds a personal touch to the interface. If you'd like to update or completely remove your current picture, follow these simple steps.

  1. Open Settings. Click on the Start menu, select Settings (gear icon), or use the shortcut Win + I.
  2. Go to Account settings. In the Settings menu, select Accounts, then click on Your info.
  3. Replace your avatar. In the "Your picture" section, click on Browse to select a new picture from your computer. You can choose any saved image or take a photo using your device's camera.
  4. Apply changes. Once you've selected a new image, it will automatically be saved and displayed during login.

How to Remove Your Avatar in Windows 10

If you'd like to remove your avatar and leave the space blank or revert to the default account image, Windows 10 doesn't provide a direct way to do this, but there are some alternative methods:

Removing the Avatar through File Explorer

  1. Open File Explorer. Open File Explorer and go to the following path:
