How to Change the Mouse Cursor in Windows
If you want to make working on your computer more comfortable or simply add a personal touch, changing your mouse cursor can be a great solution. Windows offers a variety of built-in options, and you can also add custom cursors. This guide will walk you through the quick and easy process of changing your mouse cursor in Windows.
1. Open Mouse Cursor Settings
First, you need to access the cursor settings menu. Follow these steps:
- Click on Start and select Settings (gear icon).
- In the new window, go to the Devices section, then select Mouse.
- Click on Additional mouse options on the right side of the menu. A new window will open.
2. Choose a Cursor Scheme
Now that the mouse settings window is open, you can select a cursor scheme:
- Go to the Pointers tab.
- Under the Scheme section, use the dropdown menu to choose a cursor style, such as "Windows Aero," "Black (Large)," or another option.
- As soon as you make a selection, you’ll see how the cursor will look.
3. How to Install Custom Cursors
If the default options don’t suit your needs, you can download and install custom cursors. Here’s how:
- Download a cursor set from a reliable site, like DeviantArt or RW Designer.
- Unzip the downloaded file if it’s in a ZIP or RAR format.
- In the Pointers settings window, double-click each cursor function (e.g., normal select, busy, etc.) and select the appropriate cursor file from your downloaded set.
4. Save and Apply Your Settings
Once you’ve selected or customized all the cursor elements, click on Save As… to save the new scheme under your own name. This will allow you to easily return to it later.
Then, click Apply and OK to save the changes and see your new cursor in action.
