How to Disable Sticky Keys and Filter Keys in Windows 10
Sticky Keys and Filter Keys are accessibility features designed to help users with specific needs, but they can sometimes activate unintentionally and disrupt your workflow. In this guide, we’ll walk through the steps to easily turn them off in Windows 10.
Step 1: Open Accessibility Settings
To disable Sticky Keys and Filter Keys, first go to the Accessibility settings:
- Open the Start menu.
- Select Settings (gear icon).
- Choose the Ease of Access option.
Step 2: Turn Off Sticky Keys
Sticky Keys allow you to press keys in sequence (like Ctrl+C) instead of pressing them simultaneously:
- In the Ease of Access menu, select Keyboard on the left side of the screen.
- Find the Use Sticky Keys option.
- Switch the toggle to Off.
Step 3: Turn Off Filter Keys
Filter Keys help ignore unintentional key presses:
- In the same Keyboard section, find the option Use Filter Keys.
- Toggle it to Off.
Step 4: Confirm Your Settings
After turning off both options, make sure to restart your computer and confirm that the settings remain off. Occasionally, Windows updates might reset these settings.
