How to Disable the PIN Code on Windows 10

Many users find entering a PIN every time they log into Windows 10 inconvenient, especially if the computer is used primarily at home or for personal purposes. Disabling the PIN in Windows 10 is easier than it may seem, and in this guide, we'll walk you through the process step by step.

Step 1: Open Account Settings

To begin removing the PIN, start by accessing Settings:

  • Click on Start and select Settings (gear icon).
  • Go to the Accounts section.

Step 2: Sign-In Options

Once in the accounts menu, select the Sign-in options tab from the left menu. Here, you’ll see several login options, including the PIN.

Step 3: Remove the PIN

In the PIN section, click on Remove. The system will ask you to confirm this action. You may need to enter your current PIN to confirm the change.

After the PIN is removed, Windows will default to using your Microsoft account password or a local account password, if you have one set up.

Step 4: Restart the System (if needed)

In some cases, you may need to restart your computer to finalize the setting change. After restarting, verify that the system no longer prompts for a PIN on login.

Possible Issues and Solutions

If the “Remove” button is grayed out, ensure you have administrative privileges. Additionally, Windows may sometimes require an alternative authentication method for Microsoft accounts. In this case, temporarily set up and remove a password, or switch to a local account.
