How to Edit the Windows Context Menu with Easy Context Menu
The Windows context menu, accessed by right-clicking, provides quick access to various functions. However, over time, this menu can become cluttered with unnecessary items. Easy Context Menu, a free tool, makes it easy to edit and customize the Windows context menu to suit your needs.
Step 1: Downloading and Installing Easy Context Menu
Start by downloading Easy Context Menu from the official website. Make sure you’re downloading the latest version compatible with your operating system.
Note: Easy Context Menu is a portable application, so it doesn’t require installation.
Step 2: Launching Easy Context Menu
After downloading, open the archive and run the EcMenu.exe
file. This will open the program’s interface, where you’ll find various categories of context menu settings.
Step 3: Adding Items to the Context Menu
Easy Context Menu allows you to add items to context menus for the desktop, files, folders, and drives. For example, to add a quick “Copy file path” option, go to the Desktop Context Menu or File and Folder Context Menu category, check the box next to the desired item, and click Apply Changes.
Step 4: Removing Unnecessary Items from the Context Menu
To remove unwanted items, simply locate them in the relevant category, uncheck the boxes next to them, and click Apply Changes again. Remember, some items are system items, so removing them may have unpredictable results.
Step 5: Saving Changes and Restarting Windows Explorer
After making your changes, restart Windows Explorer to apply them. You can do this directly from the program by clicking Restart Explorer.
Additional Features of Easy Context Menu
This tool also offers a range of extra functions, like managing the Send To menu, adding commands for enabling or disabling system functions, and even creating custom menu items for scripts and programs.
