How to Enable Extensions in Incognito Mode in Google Chrome
Incognito Mode in Google Chrome allows you to browse privately without saving your browsing history or cookies. However, by default, all installed extensions are disabled in this mode, which can limit their usefulness. If you’d like to use certain extensions while browsing in Incognito, you can enable them manually. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it.
Step 1: Open the Extensions Page
First, navigate to the Extensions management page in Chrome. Here’s how:
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click on the three dots icon in the upper-right corner of the browser window.
- Select “More Tools” from the dropdown menu, then click “Extensions.”
- Or simply type
chrome://extensions/
in the address bar and press Enter.
Step 2: Find the Desired Extension
On the Extensions page, you’ll see a list of all installed extensions. Scroll down to find the extension you want to enable in Incognito Mode.
Step 3: Enable Incognito Access
To allow an extension to work in Incognito Mode, follow these steps:
- Locate the extension you want, then click on the “Details” button underneath its name.
- This will open a settings menu for the extension. Look for the toggle labeled “Allow in Incognito.”
- Switch this toggle to the on position to enable the extension in Incognito Mode.
Important Reminder
While extensions will now function in Incognito Mode, some may still collect data on your browsing activity. Use only trusted extensions and review their privacy policies before enabling them in Incognito.
