How to Enable Steam Guard

Steam Guard is an additional security feature that helps protect your Steam account from unauthorized access. By enabling it, you will be required to enter a unique code sent to your email or generated by the Steam mobile app whenever you log in. Enabling Steam Guard is quite simple, and in this article, we will explain how to do it in detail.

Step 1: Log into Your Steam Account

First, open Steam on your computer or mobile device and log into your account. If you don't have an account yet, you can create one on the official Steam website.

Step 2: Go to Security Settings

In the main Steam client or the mobile app, open the settings menu. On the desktop version, click on your username in the top-right corner, then select Settings. On the mobile app, open the menu and choose Settings.

Step 3: Enable Steam Guard

In the settings, find the Account section and click on Steam Guard. You will see two options for enabling protection:

  • Email Confirmation: You will receive a code in your email each time you try to log in from a new device.
  • Mobile App Confirmation: You will need to install the Steam app on your smartphone and enable authentication through it. The code will be generated directly in the app.

Step 4: Choose Your Preferred Verification Method

Select the method that is more convenient for you. If you prefer to receive the code via email, check the corresponding option and follow the instructions to link your email to your account. To use the mobile app, select this option and complete the synchronization with your device.

Step 5: Complete the Setup

Once you have chosen and set up your preferred verification method, Steam Guard will be activated. From now on, whenever you log into your account from a new device, Steam will require an additional code, improving your account's security.
