How to Enable Volume Leveling in Windows 10

Volume leveling is a feature that helps balance the volume between different audio files or applications, preventing sudden volume spikes and making audio playback smoother. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to enable volume leveling on your Windows 10 computer.

Step 1: Open the Sound Control Panel

Start by right-clicking the volume icon in the lower-right corner of the taskbar and selecting Open Sound settings. In the Sound settings window, find and click on Sound Control Panel on the right side of the screen.

Step 2: Select Your Playback Device

In the Sound Control Panel window, select your playback device, such as speakers or headphones. Right-click the device and choose Properties.

Step 3: Go to the "Enhancements" Tab

In the Properties window, go to the Enhancements tab. Here, you will find various options, including the volume leveling setting.

Step 4: Enable the "Loudness Equalization" Option

Under the Enhancements tab, check the box labeled Loudness Equalization. This option may also be available under the Advanced tab depending on your device’s driver settings.

Step 5: Apply the Settings

Click Apply and then OK to save the changes. Volume leveling is now enabled, and the audio volume will automatically adjust when playing different audio files.

What If the Option Is Missing?

If you don’t see the volume leveling option, it may be because your playback device’s driver doesn’t support this feature. In this case, try updating your driver or installing a driver from the device’s manufacturer, such as Realtek, which often provides additional audio settings.
