How to Find Your Laptop Model
If you need to find out your laptop model, there are several easy ways to do so. Knowing the exact model is helpful when searching for drivers, compatible accessories, or when contacting support services. Let’s go over the most straightforward methods available.
1. Check the Laptop’s Exterior
The simplest way to find your laptop model is to look on its exterior. Usually, the model is listed on a sticker located on the bottom cover, alongside the serial number and other technical information. For example, it may appear as Dell Inspiron 15 3000 or HP Pavilion x360.
2. Use a Command in Windows
If there’s no visible sticker or if it’s worn off, you can find your laptop model through Windows:
- Press Win + R to open the "Run" dialog box.
- Type
msinfo32
and press Enter. - A window called "System Information" will open. Look for the "System Model" entry, which shows your laptop model.
3. Check the BIOS
You can also find your laptop model in the BIOS. To access the BIOS, restart your laptop and press the designated key (usually F2, F10, or Del, depending on the model) as soon as the first screen appears. The BIOS settings will typically display the laptop model.
4. Check the Packaging or Documentation
If you still have the original box or documentation, you’ll likely find the model there as well. The model and serial number are often listed on the box or in warranty documentation.
5. Use Third-Party Software
If none of the above methods work, you can use specialized programs that provide detailed system information. Popular tools like CPU-Z and Belarc Advisor can display your laptop model and other technical details.
