How to Fix Internal Issues in Microsoft Store on Windows
The Microsoft Store provides Windows users access to a wide range of apps and games, but sometimes issues can arise, leading to internal errors that may prevent the store from loading or cause it to crash. Below are several steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve these issues.
1. Check Your Internet Connection
Often, connectivity issues can be the root cause. Ensure that your device is connected to the internet and that the connection is stable. If needed, try restarting your router to restore a strong connection.
2. Clear the Microsoft Store Cache
Clearing the Store cache can help remove temporary files that may be causing the issue.
- Press Win + R on your keyboard.
- Type
wsreset.exe
and press Enter. - A command prompt window will open briefly and automatically close once the cache is cleared. Microsoft Store should then launch automatically.
3. Check for Updates
Outdated versions of Windows or Microsoft Store may cause issues. Make sure both are updated:
- Open Settings (Win + I) and go to Update & Security.
- Select Check for updates and install any available updates.
4. Reinstall Microsoft Store
If the issue persists, reinstalling the app may help:
- Open PowerShell as an administrator (search for PowerShell in Windows, right-click it, and select "Run as administrator").
- Type the following command and press Enter:
Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.WindowsStore* | Remove-AppxPackage
- Restart your computer, open PowerShell again, and type the command below to reinstall Microsoft Store:
Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
5. Use the Built-In Troubleshooter
Windows includes a tool to automatically detect and resolve Microsoft Store issues:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Find Apps & Features and select Run the troubleshooter.
