How to Make Windows Clock Display the Day of the Week

If you'd like the clock in the bottom right corner of your Windows screen to show not only the time and date but also the day of the week, this can be easily configured in the system settings. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to set it up:

Step 1: Open the Control Panel

First, open the Control Panel. You can do this in a few ways:

  • Press Win + R, type control, and press Enter.
  • Alternatively, click the Start button and search for Control Panel in the search bar.

Step 2: Go to Region Settings

In the Control Panel, select Clock and Region, then click on Region. This will open the regional settings window.

Step 3: Change the Date Format

In the opened window, go to the Formats tab and click on Additional Settings. Then switch to the Date tab.

Step 4: Customize the Display to Show the Day of the Week

In the Short date format or Long date format field, add the following format:

  • ddd, dd.MM.yyyy — short format (e.g., "Mon, 11.09.2024")
  • dddd, dd MMMM yyyy — long format (e.g., "Monday, 09 November 2024")

After making these changes, click Apply and OK. Now, the taskbar will display the day of the week along with the date and time.

Step 5: Restart the System (if necessary)

In most cases, the changes will take effect immediately. However, if you don’t see the update, try restarting your computer.

Tip: Adjust Taskbar Settings

If the taskbar does not show the day of the week, it may be too compact. Right-click on the taskbar, select Taskbar Settings, and disable the Use small taskbar buttons option. This will allow the full display of date and time.
