How to Minimize All Windows in Windows 10 and Windows 11
Sometimes, having too many open windows can clutter your screen, and you may want to quickly minimize them all to access your desktop. Windows 10 and Windows 11 offer several ways to do this. Let’s go over each method so you can find the one that’s most convenient for you.
1. Use the Win + D Keyboard Shortcut
The easiest way to instantly minimize all windows is by pressing Win + D. This shortcut works as a “toggle”: the first press minimizes all windows, and pressing it again restores them. This method is universal and works in both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
2. Click the “Show Desktop” Button on the Taskbar
On the far right of the taskbar, next to the date and time, there’s a barely visible “Show Desktop” button. Just click it once to minimize all windows. To bring them back, click the button again.
3. Right-Click on the Taskbar
Another simple method is to right-click on an empty area of the taskbar and select “Show Desktop” from the menu. This instantly minimizes all windows, giving you quick access to the desktop.
4. Use the Win + M Shortcut
The Win + M shortcut also minimizes all open windows, but unlike Win + D, it doesn’t work as a toggle. To restore minimized windows after using Win + M, you’ll need to press Win + Shift + M.
