How to Restore the “Do You Want to Close All Tabs?” Prompt in Microsoft Edge
Many Microsoft Edge users rely on the warning prompt that appears when attempting to close all tabs, which prevents accidentally losing important open pages. If you no longer see the “Do you want to close all tabs?” prompt when closing Edge, follow this guide to bring it back.
Step 1: Update Microsoft Edge to the Latest Version
Before making any changes, ensure that Microsoft Edge is up to date. To do this:
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and select “Help and Feedback” > “About Microsoft Edge”.
- If an update is available, install it and restart the browser.
Step 2: Restore Default Settings
If the prompt isn’t showing, it may be due to modified browser settings. Try restoring the default settings:
- Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and go to “Settings”.
- Navigate to “Reset Settings”.
- Select “Restore settings to their default values”.
- Confirm the reset to apply the default parameters.
Step 3: Use Edge Flags
Microsoft Edge includes experimental features accessible through the “flags” menu. Occasionally, issues with prompts are related to these experimental settings.
- In the address bar, type
edge://flags
and press Enter. - Search for “Close all tabs” in the flags search bar.
- If the feature is disabled, enable it and restart the browser.
Step 4: Clear Cache and Cookies
Accumulated browser data may also cause issues. To clear cache and cookies:
- Go to “Settings” > “Privacy, Search, and Services”.
- Select “Clear browsing data” and check “Cached images and files” and “Cookies and other site data”.
- Click “Clear” and restart the browser.
