How to Transfer Files via Bluetooth from Your Phone to Your Computer
Bluetooth remains one of the most convenient ways to transfer files between devices, especially when you don’t have a USB cable or Wi-Fi connection available. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to transfer files from your phone to your computer using Bluetooth, step by step.
Step 1: Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled on Both Devices
First, make sure Bluetooth is turned on for both your phone and your computer.
- On Android: Open Settings, navigate to Connected devices or Bluetooth, and enable it.
- On iPhone: Go to Settings → Bluetooth and turn it on (note: iPhone does not support Bluetooth file transfers with Windows, requiring AirDrop instead).
- On Windows PC: Go to Settings → Devices → Bluetooth & other devices, and switch Bluetooth on.
Step 2: Pair the Devices
Once Bluetooth is enabled, the devices need to be paired. Here’s how to do it:
- On your computer, click Add a device and select Bluetooth.
- On your phone, locate your computer in the list of available devices and connect to it.
- Confirm the pairing request on both devices to establish the connection.
Step 3: Transfer Files from Phone to Computer
After pairing, you can start transferring files:
- On Android: Open the Gallery or File Manager, select the file you want to send, tap Share, and choose Bluetooth. Then, select your computer from the list.
- On your Windows PC: Accept the file transfer request and choose the folder where the file should be saved.
Step 4: Confirm and Complete the Transfer
Once the transfer is complete, you’ll receive a notification on your computer. Check the specified folder to ensure the file has been successfully saved.
