How to Transfer Files via Bluetooth from Your Phone to Your Computer

Bluetooth remains one of the most convenient ways to transfer files between devices, especially when you don’t have a USB cable or Wi-Fi connection available. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to transfer files from your phone to your computer using Bluetooth, step by step.

Step 1: Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled on Both Devices

First, make sure Bluetooth is turned on for both your phone and your computer.

  • On Android: Open Settings, navigate to Connected devices or Bluetooth, and enable it.
  • On iPhone: Go to SettingsBluetooth and turn it on (note: iPhone does not support Bluetooth file transfers with Windows, requiring AirDrop instead).
  • On Windows PC: Go to SettingsDevicesBluetooth & other devices, and switch Bluetooth on.

Step 2: Pair the Devices

Once Bluetooth is enabled, the devices need to be paired. Here’s how to do it:

  1. On your computer, click Add a device and select Bluetooth.
  2. On your phone, locate your computer in the list of available devices and connect to it.
  3. Confirm the pairing request on both devices to establish the connection.

Step 3: Transfer Files from Phone to Computer

After pairing, you can start transferring files:

  • On Android: Open the Gallery or File Manager, select the file you want to send, tap Share, and choose Bluetooth. Then, select your computer from the list.
  • On your Windows PC: Accept the file transfer request and choose the folder where the file should be saved.

Step 4: Confirm and Complete the Transfer

Once the transfer is complete, you’ll receive a notification on your computer. Check the specified folder to ensure the file has been successfully saved.
